Toho-Tako? Tohoshinki Takoyaki!
Have you ever watched TVXQ is
making takoyaki yet? Me? I have watched it everytime. ^^ They made takoyaki
with many different taste and the worst one was Junsu. I do not have an eager
eating his takoyaki. *lol*
These were the combinations;
Junsu : Natto (fermented soybeans)
and seaweed
Yoochun : Curry powder and
sardines
Jaejoong : Chocolate and wasabi
Changmin : Cheese
Yunho : Kimchi and Tuna
Beside the taste was weird, Junsu’s
was also chaotic. It was more look like okonomiyaki. *lol* Here, you could also
see YunJae moment and Changmin’s food desire. *lol* It must be wacthed by you all
guys.
Anyway, here I am gonna invite
you making takoyaki at home. Takoyaki is really my favorite snack, I could buy
it everyday and thanks to the chef tought me how to make itself. Most of takoyaki
was made with octopus but you can change with another contents and I would like
to choose cheese.^^
Let’s cooking!
Timer:
- It needs 20 minutes
What you need:
- 1 stick of cheese (take a short cut)
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (150g) of all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ cup of water
- ½ cup finely chooped green onion
Topping:
- ¼ cup (4g) of katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)
- Dried green seaweed
- Red pepper powder *if you like spicy*
- Takoyaki sauce or Tonkatsu sauce
- Japanese Mayonnaise
What you do:
- Add dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt) in a large mixing bowl. Whisk a few times to combine all together.
- In a medium bowl, whisk eggs.
- Add egg mixture to the dry ingredients and then slowly pour the water while whisking all together.
- Heat the takoyaki pan over medium high heat. Using a brush, generously butter the takoyaki pan including the raise parts in between bowls.
- When you see smoke coming rising from the pan, add 1-2 cheese pieces in each hole and sprinkle on the green onion. Pour the batter in each hole and set timer for 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes or so, when the bottom of the balls has hardened, break the connected batter in between each bowl with takoyaki picks (or skewers). Then turn each piece a 180 degree, stuffing in the edges as you are turning. The batter flows out from the inside of each bowl and creates the other side of the takoyaki ball. After you finish flipping, set timer for 4 minutes.
- Keep turning constantly so each piece will have nice round shape and will be evenly browned.
- Transfer takoyaki balls onto a plate and pour takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise. Finish off with sprinkling green dried seaweed, red pepper powder and katsuobushi.
- Serve immediately. Ittadakimasu! (have a nice meal)
